Pretty in Pink

17 Nov

Here are a few of my favorite pink things!!

Lipstick

MAC’s Amplified Cream in Girl About Town

This is a beautiful deep and bright fuchsia shade in MAC’s totally amazing, creamy, rich, opaque and moisturizing formula.  I got this one last time I returned empties to the MAC counter for their Back to MAC program.  It is my go to pink lipstick.  I have a tube and then a spare, just in case.  There are a lot of similar colors out there, but none compare to MAC for wear and opacity.

Gloss

MAC’s Dazzleglass in Funtabulous

I’m not sure if this really qualifies as a pink.  But it’s bright and glittery and wears so amazingly over SO many different lipsticks.  I do often wear it over Girl About Town and it intensifies the bright pink color of the lipstick.  I don’t think it’s part of any Limited Edition collection, so I assume it’s available year round.  I’m very fair and it pops against my skin, and my cousin Jessica is perpetually tanned and it looks more of a Barbie pink gloss on her.  So it’s wearable for a lot of people!  Don’t let the bright color in the tube scare you away.

Eye Shadow

AL Rocks! Sonic Collection in Teenaged Kicks and Psycho Candy

I’m sorry, I couldn’t pick one, but these two are really similar shades.

teenagekicks: Rich pop of bright fuschia. blacklight reactive.

psycho-candy: Yummy hot fuschia with crystal sprinkles. blacklight reactive.sealant/base recommended.

The one is actually a matte unparkly version of the other.  Now, I agree, these are not for everyone.  I love to foil them over just my lid with some black liner and some falsies and be done.  The colors are so amazing they don’t need anything more fancy.

Blush

AL Rocks! Sonic Rouge in Breathless

breathless: Lush, clear bright pink.

A little goes a long way, but it’s a nice flush of true bright color.  I dont’ really care for the muted and ‘dusty’ colors and actually don’t wear blush often at all.  But this color gets a lot of wear these days.

Bracelet

Mickey Bead Stretchy Bracelet

I’m not really sure what to call this.  Looking at it it just looks like a funky pink beaded bracelet.  Upon closer inspection you’ll notice the beads are all little Mickeys with ears and all.  I have a few of these in black with various bead finishes (faceted and solid) but the pink gets the most wear.  I’m not sure where else to get them apart from DisneyLand (or the or the other Disney Parks), where I got mine.

Hair Thingie

Daria Japan Front Hair Guard

I received a few sets of them when I was ordering my 88 palettes from eBay.  I also forgot about them, but joking around one night pulled them out and stuck them in my hair.  They are literally just the hook part of a big piece of velcro, but they keep my bangs off my face.  I have very short ‘rockabilly’ bangs and clips just do not work, so when I’m exfoliating or using a mask these bugger come in handy!!

Gloves

Hot Pink Fingerless Gloves

I occasionally have a condition called Raynaud’s Phenomenon due to a medication I take.  So I’m always wearing gloves and I cannot CANNOT sleep without socks.  I am always on the hunt for new gloves and ran across this listing on eBay.  They are cute little gloves, nice enough to wear around when I do my errands but not nice enough that if they get wear I’d be upset.  This seller shipped very quickly as well, so I do recommended him if you’re looking for something funky to keep your fingers warm!!

Nail Polish

OPI La Paz-Itively Hot

I can’t actually find a place online that sells it to link to that I can recommend, so just maybe go to Sephora and blame me when you walk out with more stuff then you intended to.  It’s a very clear beautiful pink.  It also comes in Matte, but I think I might hate Matte colors.  I love the Matte Top Coat, but actual Matte polish is impossible for me to get smooth.  But anyway, this is my default pink polish, it’s almost always on my toes if I’m not wearing black.

Plugs

1/2 Inch Rose Quartz Stones

I got these when I first stretched my lobes up to 1/2 inch.  They were SO MUCH brighter then I thought they were going to be.  They are lovely and swirly and have an amazing real stone weight to them, not too heavy, but you know they are there.  I wish I wore them more often then I do, but I like to sleep in silicone tubes, so much more comfortable.  I’m just too forgetful to put them back in my ears after I shower!!

Hair Color

Special Effects in Cupcake Pink

Used to be the only place I could get this dye was in the UK, but I’ve since found a few places online in the states to order it.  This is the best, brightest, longest wearing pink I’ve found.  In general I apply it to my dry hair, let it sit for about an hour and a half and then rinse it out.  That one application keeps my hair BRIGHT and vivid for about two weeks before I have to touch it up.  Which anyone who colors such intense colors can attest to, is a good long time!

So Sweet

30 Sep

I’m very into “delicate and soft” the past few weeks.  I can see this trend continuing.   I’ve been very influenced by Victorian and Edwardian images and researching Steampunk costuming.

Aromaleigh was had some amazing charity listings on eBay this past month, and I bid on a few things, I only won three, though.  I was so pleased when they arrived today that I received a fourth shadow free as a gift.

The colors I was drawn to were all very sweet pinks.  The colors she listed were all retired or Limited Edition shades from previous collections.

From left to right : Sweet Nothings (Valentines 2009), Aurora (En Pointe), Lovelorn (Valentines 2009), and Coppelia (En Pointe)

I’m really looking forward to being over this mess in my chest and able to play with them some and explore.  Right now I have an amazing look in mind that I hope to post soon, so if you don’t see it in a day or so, poke me!!

Bargain Shopper!!

29 Aug

There have been a few things I’ve been wanting to try.  Things that are normally just a smidgen outside my budget.

I’ve recently been cleaning out some of my old craft stuff, stuff I’ve moved a million times and never used.  The result is more room in the closets and more spending money in my Paypal account.

The first thing I found was Pixi’s Illuminating Tint and Conceal.  They sell it at my local Target for 35$, and I saw it recently used in a Pixiwoo video.  So of course, it only reinforced the fact I was anxious to try it.  For those of you playing along at home, I’ve been looking for an ‘illuminating’ foundation for a while.  She currently has ten more in stock for a THIRD of the price of retail.  Mine arrived yesterday in Light Glow and even though in the super hot oven like conditions of my So Cal mailbox, it arrived in good condition, very well packaged.  The little ball of concealer on the bottom was sweating a little, but I got it out in time that it didn’t melt.

I love this stuff.  I just ordered two more, one in Bare Glow, which is the next darker shade, and another in Light.  It has an SPF and moisturizes and suits my needs perfectly.  I am really really happy with it.

Next I found a Lord & Berry Waterproof Smudgeproof Eyeliner.  Ordering one of these buggers from a shop online is usually SO expensive.  And finding the ones you sharpen versus the ones you twist up is also tricky.  I got mine in black for just over five bucks including shipping.  It FAR surpasses my Urban Decay 24/7 pencil as well as my MUFE Auqaliner in performance.  It doesn’t migrate or smudge or disappear.  It’s nice and deep hours after I apply it.

I also finally broke down and bought a Kryolan Aquacolor Eyeshadow Palette.  A few local places want 45$ for them, and when I caught them in Amy’s eBay shop, I got one.  I shop her Etsy shop often, but this was the first purchase from her from eBay.  My second was the next day buying a few Eyeshadow Cream Bases.  This one, in Anthracite is great for my smokey days.  It’s a bit sticky, so all the mica and pigments I love to use just stick like GLUE.  It’s also a perfect excuse to use more of my microfine glitters.

I also got a great deal on some Ben Nye Liquiset.  I actually got the 4oz. one after I ordered the 2oz one.  I just emailed them and asked them if they could bill me the difference and they switched my order no problems what so ever.  I use it with my G2 pigments to create eyeliners and more dramatic shapes on my lids.

If you haven’t been around eBay in  a while, give it a search.

88

16 Aug

I finally broke down and ordered an 88 palette from Joileeeee.  I went back and forth with myself and settled on the matte one.  It arrived Friday with nary a shade broken.  You can sort of see I’ve already been using it.  I am really impressed and I’m loving it.

I keep poking around on Sephora and back and forth looking at the Urban Decay’s Friends and Family sale and I just keep telling myself that I don’t need any new eye shadow, I already have basically all the colors I can ever want!!

It was a dark and Stormy night…

7 Aug

My second Sleek Divine palette arrived yesterday!

This one is Storm, I love it, it’s all dark and mysterious with some mattes and some really amazing browns.

However, I don’t think I’m going to recomend this buyer anymore.  Yes, I did already order an Acid palette and a shimmer bronzer from her, but the last two packages that arrived caused me some concern.  The first time, I figured it was a fluke, she was shipping overseas for the first time, won’t happen again.  Now I understand she ships all over all the time, so yeah, not so happy.  It wasn’t wrapped in anything inside the little bubble mailer.  Although twice I ordered sand twice they arrived alright.  And secondly, she charged me 5 pounds for shipping and both times the postage was only 2.19 pounds.  So she’s over charging me almost 3 pounds, or about 5$ each time I order.  Not too happy about that, but when it’s the only supplier, what do you do?!

Divine

28 Jul

Guess what I got today?  All the way from London, England in only 5 days time!!

It’s the Sleek Makeup Divine Eyeshadow palette in The Original!!

Oh my, it’s amazing.  I want them ALL now, and I’m going to see how to go about getting them.  This one I got from the eBay seller Linda’s Cosmetic Corner.  She was recommended by my friend Ana.

I wasn’t sure with colorway to get first.  So I went with this one, just to see if they were all that I’d been hearing about.  And oh.  Oh yes, they are!!

The colors are vibrant and the shadow it’s self is almost creamy.  I want to say buttery they are so soft.  They blend really well and these swatches will not seem to come off my hand, so I know they stay forever.

I’m a total Anglophile.  I actually lived in London for a year after High School.  I lived in Bloomsbury and hung out at a little pub called The Swan and wrote poetry and went through e proper British punk phase.  So getting my hands on this palette was brilliant.

Koi

20 Jul

My orange nail polish fro eBay arrived the other day.  I ordered it from my preferred seller, Joileeeee.  It’s a brand from Korea, I understand, called Guppy.  I got color 16 and 33.  The perfect colors for goldfish.

I put them on the other day, sort of just on a whim.  So far I’m really impressed.  It’s very opaque and creamy and dries really smooth and shiny.  I think it’s an amazing quality product for as little as I paid for it, 2.50$.  Plus, shipping was really quick again as well.

I also got a few other things from the same seller I plan on reviewing soon, but I really thought that this polish deserved a post of it’s own!!

New Palettes

16 Jul

My palettes from Jolieeee arrived today.  Overall, I’m impressed with the shipping time, it wasn’t all that long.  I purchased them on the 8th, so it was just over a week for them to arrive.

They are NICE.  I wasn’t expecting much, I’d gotten some negative replies when I had asked about them.  But they are thick and sturdy and really work well.  They have twelve wells, and I really like the smaller size.  I can make color coordinated palettes easier without the empty spot, since I’m a tad anal that always bothers me.

The pans sit a little higher then on a MAC palettem but the magnets I’m using are a little thicker, too.  It’s nothing I would complain about at all, the case still closes just fine.

I ordered a total of three.  Two were in this order, one in a second order with some brushes and nail polish.  I’m looking froward to filling it up!!
