Ok, I’m between The Loudest Sound, by The Cure and Killing Moon but the Nouvelle Vague version… ’cause the first one really moves me to tears, but the second one reminds me of when I first started to date my boyfriend, Luiz (he’s my first boyfriend *love*).
He’s into progressive rock, so he doesn’t like my songs very much… but when we were at my house he heard this music and asked me to dance…
    I was so happy!

Oh… I think I’ll stick with Killing Moon! it’s almost bringing me to tears too hahahaah!

I’m feeling nostalgic, so I’ll admit that Endless Love was a fave for a long time.

Brooke Shields was the sh!t back in the day. I wasn’t even a teen then. But I used to love reading my older sister’s Seventeen magazine, and Brooke’s career got a lot of coverage in that magazine.

I was even too young to be “allowed” to see the movie starring Brooke that featured the song, yet I still considered myself a “fan” of the movie. How weird is that?

When I finally saw the movie years later, I realized a couple of things: Brooke can’t act, the movie is crap, and it’s hardly a story of innocent, teen love. It is a poor attempt to tell a story of a mentally unstable young man who becomes obsessed with his girlfriend and her family.

Fast forward to the mid-eighties, and I was at a Lionel Richie concert with another sis of mine. When Lionel started to sing this song, lo and behold, Diana Ross “appeared” on a huge video screen to sing the duet with him. It was mind blowing technology, I tell you! The crowd went wild! Even by the mid-eighties, it felt like a blast from the past, but we enjoyed it in all its cheesy goodness.

It’s a good song to sing in the shower. :)

Currently my favourite love song is ‘With All My Might’ by Sparks
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfwnl58sL-E

To me it’s just the most romantic song ever, the lyrics make me almost cry from the sweetness and heart and i love the synth-y background music.

And also Sparks are, in my opinion, the greatest band ever ever ever.

‘This must be the place (Naive Melody)’ by the Talking Heads — it’s such a declaration of true love to me. Instead of the traditional love-at-first-sight/love-is-a-fantasyland-of-perfection sort of songs, it celebrates the simple and the imperfect and the absolute contentment and surprise of being in love with someone who loves you back just as much.

My boyfriend has a thing for cover versions of songs and one night early in our relationship he played “the way you love me” by Keepsake which is a “punk”(or so he says) version of the Faith Hill song (Country music is the only thing I don’t listen to) It’s so slow and pretty and simple–nothing like the bubbly country-pop version. Because we’ve been in a long distance relationship for almost 18 months–the lyrics seemed to fit us and it quickly became “our song”. I listen and always think of him. I wuvs him so :)

    “Universe” by Savage Garden.

In that same vein, I’m super shocked that no one has mentioned “Truly, Madly, Deeply” or “I Knew I Loved You”! Those two are fantastic lovesongs, as well, but I like the conf-licting narrative in “Universe” tons better.

I know you asked for just our favorite one, but I’ve got to mention… “Lovesong” by The Cure, “Every Me & Every You” by Placebo, and on a completely different note, “Suga’ Suga’” by Babybash.

Oh gosh. Some songs that really call out to me as love songs are: ‘Blue Veins’ by the Raconteurs, ‘There Is A Light That Will Never Go Out’ by the Smiths, ‘5 Year’s Time’ by Noah and the Wale, ‘Every You Every Me’, ‘Because I Want You’, ‘Blind’ and ‘Without You I’m Nothing’ by Placebo, ‘Samson’, ‘Fidelity’ and ‘Ode To Divorce’ by Regina Spektor, ‘When I’m 69′ by The Beatles (and a bunch of their early stuff), ‘Maps’ by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, ‘In the Cold, Cold Night’ by White Stripes, a bunch of Cure songs like ‘Friday I’m in Love’ and ‘Just Say Yes’. Um and some more.

I guess the list is so long because I just havn’t found a song that fits my current relationship yet, even though we’ve been together almost 2 years. Also a lot of my music isn’t on this computer yet… I’ll try to choose one.

‘Blue Veins’ by the Raconteurs because I’d most like to see a look inspired by this one if I won.

Etta James does a wicked version too. I’m basically an old school blues rocker…..so the beat and words always appealed to me. At the other end of the spectrum, I’ve always considered “Fur Elise” a very beautiful love song……you don’t need lyrics when the melody can stir your soul.
